We’re A Minor Film School and we’re dedicated to helping middle and high school students learn to use the devices in their pockets to make great videos.
BASIC MOBILE FILM-MAKING CLASS (Click on image at left to register) If you missed last summer’s course, this is the one for you. You’ll learn how to plan, film, edit, and share your own micro short films all from your iPhone, iPod, iPad, or Android phone with no computer required. We’ll cover storyboarding and script writing, prop making, composition, lighting, sound, editing all your clips into a single film, where and how to share your videos in a safe way, and the best apps to use for all of these. Whether you want to learn how to make better videos for class assignments or how to turn your great ideas into movies, this is the class for you!
Each week we’ll watch and critique class video assignments, learn something new, practice it in class, and leave with a fun homework assignment. By the end of our course, you’ll turn your newfound skills into sharp, professional-looking movie trailer, which will be played for friends, family, and the public at the first annual A Minor Film Festival.
We’ll meet every Thursday from 9am - 10:30am at the Chelsea Community Center. June 15 - July 27th. A Minor Film Festival will be held on July 29th at the Chelsea Community Center.

ADVANCED MOBILE FILM-MAKING CLASS (Click on Image at left to register)
If you already took the basic course or you’ve been attending our monthly meet-ups all year, this is the one for you. We will be learning by doing as we make a short, sci fi film, Alien Ducks. Based on the award-winning movie trailer and idea by Betsy Samuelson, we have been developing the idea and script at our meet ups and this summer we are going to turn it into a short film. We will be doing all the pre-production, costume / prop designs, casting and planning for this short film, and then we will film, edit, and do all the post-production. Alien Ducks will make its debut at A Minor Film Festival on July 29th. We’ll meet every Thursday from 11am - 1pm (bring a bag lunch) at the Chelsea Community Center. June 15 - July 27th. We will have filming days in which we will work for most of each day on filming. Those days are not yet set in stone, but we are tentatively looking at June 28, 29, 30. Since the Advanced class is more a project than a class, we will need enrolled students to make this a priority and a commitment as they will be assigned specific jobs that are necessary for the successful completion of the project. If you have any questions or concerns about the advanced course, please e-mail us.
